Stuff you can buy

I am not setting up an online shop, I have no interest in starting a small business with all the hassle that that entails. Instead, if I have any odds and ends of fly tying materials which are excess to my needs I will post them on this page.

The same applies to flies. I tie a huge number every year and there is not a chance I will use them all, so any ‘spares’ will be posted on here. To save messing about I will charge €1.50 each for trout flies and €2.50 for salmon flies plus post and packing.

October ’24,

OK, I am finally getting around to selling some flies and materials!!!! If you are interested in buying anything please either email me or contact my mobile number and quote the lot number. I’ll need a delivery address and we can sort out a payment method that suits us both.

Lot #1. This might interest some UK fly fishers. I have some unused Grayling bugs which will never see the water (no grayling here in Ireland). Mainly lighter bugs for the dropper but there are a couple of heavy ones too. 65 in total (see pic). Selling them for £50 stg including postage to the UK or Europe.

Lot #1: 65 x Grayling bugs. £50 inc. P&P

Lot #2. A mix of 20 salmon flies, Waddies, doubles and trebles, sizes 6, 8 and 10. Lots of Ally’s variants, GBWG and the like. These are late spring patterns which would be good on Irish or Scottish rivers. €50 for the 20, flies, including P&P

Of course there is my book. Get in touch with me through this site and I can post you a signed copy for the ridiculously low sum of €15 plus post and packing. I am afraid that postage in Ireland is horribly expensive, €9.00 for delivery in the Republic and more for outside this jurisdiction.

Just contact me via this site or directly at:

  1. Hi Colin, great blog!

I’m quite interested in buying a copy of your book & as I’m a blow-in now living close to Ballyhaunis I was wondering if I could collect one from you in person?

    Cheers,

    Martin

    1. Hi Martin, always good to hear from a fellow blow in! I am in Mayo at the weekends so we can meet up easily enough. 089 2041081 is my mobile, text or call and we can make arrangements.

  2. Hi Colin, have finished your book at last (don’t ask, it’s been a funny year) & thoroughly enjoyed it, a fascinating insight into fishing all over Ireland.

Can I ask if you are still guiding on Corrib?

I’ve got a friend coming over for a weekend in May & I’m looking for a guide to take us out for a day on Corrib or Mask. My friend has only ever waggled a fly rod once before but is z very experienced coarse Fisher.

    All the best, Martin

  3. Great blog, Collin. I’ve been fishing the Manula River myself but haven’t had much luck—not a single bite so far this season. The only catch I’ve had was an 8 lb pike, and that’s it. Hopefully, things will improve in May as the fishing picks up

    1. It’s been a very poor season so far, fair play to you for sticking at it. Years ago there would always be 1 or 2 salmon sneaking up the river but not these days. As you say, all we can do is hope that things will pick up next month. The recent rain should have enticed some salmon to run. Colin
