Ghillie Services

I can bring you out on Conn, Cullin, Mask, Carra or the end north of Corrib (Doorus etc). I can also arrange boats on Lough Beltra and Carrowmore Lake if required. Being flexible with choice of venue is a real advantage as the loughs can fish well one week and be completely dead the next.

Most anglers want to go fly fishing but if you prefer to troll we can do that where trolling is permitted.

Maximum number of anglers is 2 per boat. If you have a larger party please contact me and I will try to arrange other experienced ghillies for your trip.

What is included:

Obviously my boat, engine and me! I can supply life jackets and tackle if you don’t have your own. I usually bring along a kettle for the all important lunch break. Of course I always bring along my own fly boxes so there are no shortages of patterns to pick from.

What you will require:

Bring your waterproof clothing and preferred gear. I will have tea and coffee with me but bring whatever food you want. Don’t panic if you forget something, I will likely have spare gear with me. If you are planning on fishing for salmon please make sure you have the appropriate state licence with you.

Typical day

Before the day I will have sent you details of where we are meeting up. 10am is the normal meeting time. This is usually at our chosen launching site for the boat, but if you prefer we can arrange to meet elsewhere. Note that the weather here in the West of Ireland plays a big part in the decisions where to fish. High winds often mean we can fish perfectly safely in one part of the lough but it would be dangerous to try to fish in another, more exposed place.

Once we have met up I load the boat and help you as required to tackle up as we discuss your preferred method of fishing and what you hope to catch. This is very important, we are going out on the water so you enjoy the experience. We head off and fish till lunchtime when I will pull in to a safe spot for a bit of lunch. After that, we head back out for the afternoon, usually finishing around 5pm. Start and finish times are flexible of course.
